LAMAR COUNTY FIRE SERVICE APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT FIRE FIGHTER

 

  1. FILL OUT THE APPLICATION COMPLETELY AND ATTACH ANY SPECIAL SCHOOL CERTIFICATIONS TO THE APPLICATION.
  2. READ AND SIGN AUTHORIZATION STATEMENT.
  3. ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED CERTIFICATE.
  4. ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT MISSISSIPPI DRIVER’S LICENSE.
  5. ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD.
  6. IF YOU HAVE NATIONAL REGISTRY EMT-BASIC CERTIFICATION, ATTACH A COPY OF CERTIFICATE, OR PROOF THAT YOU MADE A 16 OR ABOVE ON THE ACT TEST OR A 10 OR ABOVE ON THE READING TABE TEST. Your high school will have your ACT score if taken in high school. Call the GED center at the Forrest County Center 601-554-5551 on Highway 49 South for information about taking the TABE test. There is no charge to take the Full Battery Reading TABE test.

Medical Exam/Drug Test

Once a conditional job offer is made, the applicant must pass the NFPA 1582 standard medical exam & illegal drugs screen before any appointment may be made to a position as a Firefighter Recruit or Firefighter.

In the event you are hired, unless you have Firefighter 1001-I and II certification and are certified by the Mississippi Fire Personnel Minimum Standards and Certification Board, you must pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), qualify, attend and pass Minimum Standards Firefighter 1001-I and II and be certified by the Mississippi Fire Personnel Minimum Standards and Certification Board as prescribed by Lamar County Fire Services and state law.  In addition, you must attend classes and pass National Registry EMT-B examination, unless you currently have this certification.
