Smoke Detectors Grant Received PDF  | Print |
The MS Fire Marshall’s Office has received a grant for nearly $1,000,000,000 for smoke detectors. Lamar County Volunteer Fire Departments are installing these detectors in homes free of charge. These smoke detectors have 10 year batteries. We are targeting homes of the elderly, low income households, and homes with children. We will also consider other high risk homes on a case by case basis, substandard housing, handicapped etc.  We can only install these detectors in homes owned by the occupants. No rental property. If you or someone you know qualifies and would like these detectors installed in the home please email me a contact name, phone number and address so I can refer to the appropriate fire department. Please mention this program to your friends, church groups, PTO etc. For additional information please contact George Stevens.
