PURVIS — If the construction of the proposed Lamar County branch of The Family YMCA can be compared to a row of dominos, the first tile fell Monday morning.
Just when the rest of the line will fall into place remains the project's great unknown.
Lamar County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday to adopt a Tax Increment Financing plan that will provide an estimated $1.3 million toward the facility's construction.
What neither supervisors, YMCA officials nor a site developer could answer was when they expected dirt to fly and construction to start on a project estimated to cost $15 million to $17 million.
"As soon as we can tie all the loose ends together," said Daniel Henley, executive director of The Family YMCA.
