OverviewLamar County Planning Commission is an appointed body of citizens of Lamar County representing all parts of the County which are included within the zoned area. The Planning Commission is tasked with reviewing and making recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for proposed projects within the zoned area. The actions of the Planning Commission are strictly a review and recommendation body of the County Administration which allows for the opportunity for more public interaction, as well a way to have a more site specific focused discussion on the impacts of developments within the zoned area.

MeetingsGenerally the Commission as of the June 2011 meeting will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 2:00pm in the Chancery Courthouse Board of Supervisors chambers. The commission does not conduct its monthly meeting if there are no agenda items applied for consideration that month. The deadlines to submit applications as well the meeting dates are located within our 2010 Planning Commission listed below.

AgendasThe Planning Department will attempt to publish the agenda for the Planning Commission meeting if there is an application made and a meeting will take place. The agendas will be available by clicking on the meeting date in the table below for the Commission Calendar. Those meetings which have been canceled will be marked with an asterisk on either side of the meeting date to signify being canceled.

SubmittalAll submittals must be made by 12:00pm (noon) the day of the deadline. Failure to make the time deadline will result in the petition being placed on the next following agenda hearing date. All submittals found incomplete will be rejected and requested to resubmit for a later hearing date. It is the responsibility of the petitioner to ensure that all submittals are complete. It is suggested that prior to or during submittal that the petitioner ensure with the Planning Department staff as to the completeness of the the submittal.

Application FeesBeginning January 1st, 2010 it will be the policy of Lamar County Planning Department to require all appropriate fees for submittal to be paid in full prior to the deadline for the hearing agenda to be considered.Projects already in the previous process of payments for services through the Planning Department will be allowed to continue the previous process with that portion of the development with which is already applied for and/or partially considered by January 1st, 2010.
