Lamar County, Mississippi – Within the county are several towns and communities, each with its own certain charm.  The Longleaf Trace, an old abandoned railroad now converted to a 43-mile trail, traverses the county.
This walking, biking, and horseback trail starts in Hattiesburg and ends in Prentiss.  There are many stops along the trail offering drinks and snacks.

West Hattiesburg, a fast growing city is located within Lamar County.  Hattiesburg offers world-class medical services, shopping, arts and entertainment.  In addition, The University of Southern Mississippi is located within the city of Hattiesburg.

Many public and private water sports lakes are all part of Lamar County.  Fishing and boating are normal summer time activities.

The county seat, Purvis offers government services such as sheriff, tax, and the court system.  In addition, the county school system is headquartered in Purvis.

With the city of Lumberton on the south end of the county, and the city of Sumrall on the north end of the county, you will find all services and entertainment to fit your need and enhance your quality of life.
